Dr Vikneswary (Vicky) Batumalai is a translational research fellow at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research based at the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), NSW. Dr Vikneswary (Vicky) Batumalai is a translational research fellow at the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research based at the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD), NSW. She has more than 12-years experience in radiation oncology research and is the author of over 25 scientific publications in the field. In 2019, Vicky started her current research on understanding and reducing unwarranted variation in radiation therapy. For this work she has been supported by the inaugural fellowship from Sydney Partnership for Health, Education, Research and Enterprise (SPHERE). In 2020, Vicky was selected to participate as a mentee in the prestigious Franklin Women Mentoring Program which aims to support high-potential women in health and medical research careers progress into leadership positions. She has a particular expertise in:

  • Variation in radiotherapy fractionation
  • Image guidance in breast radiotherapy
  • Activity based costing in radiotherapy
