Dr. Yan is an Associate Researcher at UNSW Aviation and a Human Factors specialist with extensive experience across aviation psychology, road safety research, and rail safety consulting. Dr. Yan is an Associate Researcher at UNSW Aviation and a Human Factors specialist with extensive experience across aviation psychology, road safety research, and rail safety consulting. Her PhD research at UNSW Aviation investigated runway incursions, human performance, and communications in safety-critical environments.
Her industry background includes applying Human Factors principles to EHFA, task analysis, and the development of HFIR & HFIP frameworks. She has delivered assurance reporting and operational safety integration for major rail programs, including TfNSW DSP, Brisbane Cross River Rail, and Queensland Rail’s STARR station upgrades.
Her expertise spans behavioural research, risk management, and system-level integration, with a dedicated focus on human–system performance and user-centered design.
