Emile Carreau is a Lecturer based in the School of Law, Society and Criminology in the Faculty of Law & Justice at UNSW. He is an Australian criminal lawyer with extensive teaching experience teaching substantive criminal law and criminology subjects.

Before entering academia, Emile worked on a major criminal resentencing project in Malawi, where he collaborated with local and international lawyers to successfully resentence over 150 prisoners who had received unconstitutional mandatory death sentences. This project won the Global Justice Challenge award at the World Justice Forum in The Hague.

Emile is in the process of submitting his PhD, which examines the phenomenon of group vigilantism in Malawi.
