Biography

Eric Badu holds PhD in Nursing (Mental Health) from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He also holds a Masters degree in Disability, rehabilitation and development, and Bachelor of Arts degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.

Eric Badu holds PhD in Nursing (Mental Health) from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He also holds a Masters degree in Disability, rehabilitation and development, and Bachelor of Arts degree from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. 

His research focuses on mental health, disability, quality improvement, resilience, psychometric testing and research methodologies. Eric has several years of teaching and research experience in mental health research, research methodologies, psychometric testing, disability studies, consumer outcome research, systematic reviews.

Eric has contributed to over 45 peer-reviewed articles in health services research, mental health and disability issues. In particular, Eric’s publications have appeared in journals that are rated in the top quartile internationally, in terms of quality and impact (Scimago Journal Ranking). Eric’s research output has been published in journals such as BMC Psychiatry, BMC Health Services Research, PLOS One, International Journal of Mental Health Nursing, Administration and Policy in Mental Health and Mental Health Services Research, BMC Health Research Policy and Systems, Research in Developmental Disabilities, BMC Archives of Public Health, Disability and rehabilitation, Disability and Society, International Journal of Social Psychiatry.

Eric’s PhD research used realistic evaluation, involving a mixed-methods approach to measure the quality of health services. Before joining the University of Newcastle as a PhD candidate, he worked as a research advisor to lead and support research and evidence-generating activities in disability and health, social inclusion and inclusive education within Sightsavers (UK) Program in West Africa. He also worked as a graduate teaching and research assistant at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
