Dr Seyedsaeed Fatemi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. He holds a PhD and an MSc in Civil Engineering, specialising in Road and Transportation Engineering, from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM) and Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST), respectively, as well as a BSc in Civil Engineering.
His research focuses on sustainable pavement engineering, asphalt and bituminous materials, recycled and waste-derived materials, pavement performance, fracture and ageing behaviour, and life-cycle assessment. He has extensive experience in laboratory testing, pavement materials characterisation, statistical modelling, and the development of innovative solutions for sustainable and resilient transport infrastructure.
He has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, contributed to several research projects, and holds a patent on the use of construction and demolition waste as aggregates in hot-mix asphalt. He also serves as a reviewer for international journals, including Construction and Building Materials and the Journal of Materials in Civil Engineering. His work contributes to resource recovery, circular economy principles, and the development of low-emission and durable pavement solutions in alignment with Australia’s Net Zero Plan.
