Dr Jason Abbott is Professor at the University of New South Wales having completed his PhD on the surgical treatment of endometriosis. Dr Jason Abbott is Professor at the University of New South Wales having completed his PhD on the surgical treatment of endometriosis. He is the Presidente of AGES 2017-2019, Senior Editor of the Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynaecology, Associate Editor for Human Reproduction and ANZJOG and the director of the GRACE Unit at Royal Hospital for Women. He is the Medical Director of Endometriosis Australia, a charitable organisation that has championed this disease and been a leader in the first national action plan on a disease (endometriosis) in this country. He is on the Federal Governments Endometriosis Advisory Committee, Chairs the MRFF funded National Endometriosis Clinical and Scientific Trials (NECST) Network and advises on the medicare review committee for endometriosis and the Heavy Menstrual Bleeding group for government. Jason has published more than 120 peer reviewed publications, text book chapters and texts. He currently supervises 3 PhD and 2 masters students.

Current research interests
Current research interests are in surgical gynaecology, with research projects on bladder function, menstrual disorders and endometrial ablation, myomas, pelvic pain and endometriosis and surgical teaching.
Teaching interests
Jason has supervised 20 ILP students to date with many ILP students having first author publications and at least one with four publications from time spent under his tutelage. Students have presented nationally and internationally. Jason currently supervises ILP, honours, post-graduate trainees and PhD students.
