Biography

Bronwyn is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Big Data in Health Research, in the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics unit. Bronwyn is a respiratory and perinatal epidemiologist and biostatistician. Bronwyn is a Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Big Data in Health Research, in the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics unit. Bronwyn is a respiratory and perinatal epidemiologist and biostatistician. Bronwyn has a PhD from Sydney University(2014) and completed a post-doc at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden in the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics between 2016-2018. Bronwyn's main fields of research interest include: perinatal risk factors for asthma, maternal asthma, asthma comorbidities and mental health.

My Research Activities

Bronwyn's main fields of interest are perinatal risk factors for pediatric asthma, comorbidities of asthma, perinatal outcomes of maternal asthma, and more recently the impact of bushfires on perinatal and respiratory outcomes.  Bronwyn works with big data from a number of sources including Australian and Swedish medical and administrative datasets as well as large twin datasets. 

Bronwyn also has published in and has an interest in causal inference methodology, particularly around finding ways to reduce the effect of confounding, She has published a paper on using negative controls and is currently invovled in a project on developing an app for teaching students and others on how to create directed acyclic graphs.

Bronwyn also has an interest in rural health, and has been involved in a number of papers on rural mental health and suicide.
