Cherie Bennett is the Manager of the Cooper HIV/AIDS Research Training (CHART) Program a new research capacity building initiative targeting health care professionals in the Asia Pacific region. She provides overall leadership of the Program and related activities, developing the curriculum, coordination of recruitment of participants, liaising with key stakeholders, budget management and compliance with contractual reporting requirements. 

Immediately prior to joining the Kirby Institute (UNSW Australia), Cherie worked at the New South Wales STI Programs Unit with NSW Health as the state-wide HIV Clinical Nurse Consultant.  She was responsible for performing intensive reviews and analysis of policies relating to HIV testing to identify gaps and opportunities to embed testing within health settings in NSW. This role also required Cherie to coordinate the development and revision of an extensive resource pack to support the NSW HIV Support Program and assist overseeing the development of clinical content for education training sessions targeting GPs. 

Cherie is a practicing Clinical Nurse Specialist (Sexual Health) and works as a Medical Educator.
