My Engagement

Dr Sonali Gnanenthiran (MBBS, PhD, FRACP, FCSANZ) is a practising cardiologist who graduated medicine from the University of New South Wales with First Class Honours. She completed cardiology training at Concord Hospital and subsequently completed a PhD which was supported by a conjoint National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia / Heart Foundation scholarship. She is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and also Cardiac Society Australia New Zealand. She is also a UNSW conjoint senior clinical lecturer and a recipient of the John Chalmers Fellowship at The George Institute of Global Health, where she continues her post-doctoral research. For her work, she has been awarded the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award 2020, CSANZ Prevention Prize finalist 2020, European Society of Cardiology Scientific Meeting Best Poster Presentation 2018 and the Sydney Local Health District Clinician-Research Scholarship 2017.

Her clinical and research interests include cardiovascular disease and risk assessment, cardiovascular health in older populations, and high blood pressure. She has a broad range of research interests ranging from cardiovascular clinical trials to platelet basic science.
