My Expertise

Dr. Sunjaya's research focuses on cardiorespiratory diseases, complex chronic diseases, primary care, and digital health especially the development, validation and translation of decision support systems, AI, and virtual care. He has a special interest in supporting universal health coverage, improving care, especially in low-resource settings and primary care through the use of innovative evidence-based solutions.

Dr Anthony Paulo Sunjaya is a medical doctor and Research Fellow at the Respiratory and Health Systems Division, The George Institute for Global Health, UNSW Sydney, Australia. Dr Anthony Paulo Sunjaya is a medical doctor and Research Fellow at the Respiratory and Health Systems Division, The George Institute for Global Health, UNSW Sydney, Australia. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London and a Visiting Researcher at the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals.

His research focuses on cardiorespiratory diseases, diabetes, multimorbidity, personalised medicine and digital health especially the development and implementation of decision support systems, and empowering patient self-management. 

He is currently Convenor of the Primary Care SIG, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand; Vice-Chair of the Digital Transformation Leadership working group in the International Society for Telemedicine and e-Health (ISfTeH), one of two digital health associations with direct affiliation to WHO; Member, Research Committee, Asia-Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR), and Associate Editor (AI and Digital Health), Annals of Family Medicine. He has also been invited to Co-Chair the Membership Committee in the Society for Medical Decision Making (SMDM), Executive in the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) NSW ECR and HDR Students Chapter, and is Past President of Postgraduate Council UNSW.

Beyond research, he is a keen advocate for research translation especially to lower-middle income countries including through co-founding BantingMed, a culturally appropriate digital diabetes prevention program and being part of the 2022 Group of 20 (G20) Think 20 Taskforce on Global Health and Biosecurity as well as represent Indonesia in the 2023 Group of 7 (G7) Youth Summit on Global Health and Happiness.
