Biography

Joe Ren is a Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Business, University of New South Wales, Canberra. He obtained his PhD from Monash University. 

His research interests are largely centred on the interface of accounting and management across sustainability, public sector, labour, and education. Joe Ren is a Lecturer in Accounting at the School of Business, University of New South Wales, Canberra. He obtained his PhD from Monash University. 

His research interests are largely centred on the interface of accounting and management across sustainability, public sector, labour, and education. Joe focuses on how accounting and control practices play out across organisational and cultural contexts. He is trained in and has been conducting both qualitative and quantitative research. He draws upon various sociological and philosophical perspectives and utilises qualitative methods to explore these topics including case studies, interviews, and critical discourse analysis. Joe is working on several projects in the mutual industry, public sector, and Higher Education sector, including a grant from the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZOG).

Joe has authored publications in top-tier academic journals, leading conference proceedings, and prestigious books. His work has appeared in leading journals, such as the Academy of Management Learning & Education (AMLE - ABDC A*), and the Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal (AAAJ - ABDC A*). He currently serves as Associate Editor of Chinese Management Studies, Emerald.
