Dr Lauren Houston is a Research Fellow in the Cardiovascular Program at The George Institute for Global Health and a Conjoint Lecturer in the Faulty of Medicine, UNSW. She completed her PhD in June 2021 at the University of Wollongong which explored data quality monitoring procedures in clinical research settings. Her education includes a Bachelor of Science (Nutrition)(Honours, class I) and a Graduate Certificate of Business, both from the University of Wollongong. Dr Houston is an expert in clinical trial management and monitoring, with a focus on cardiovascular trials. She is a clinical trialist and currently works on multiple national and international randomised controlled trials in the research areas of type 2 diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and cardio oncology including the NHMRC funded START trial, MRFF funded Renal Lifecycle trial and MRFF CUREator PiVOT trial.  Despite being less than 3 years post PhD, she has received $1.9M in post-doctoral funding. She is also an associate editor for the Journal of the Society for Clinical data Management.

I have a research focus on finding better treatments for cardiometabolic disorders globally. My areas of research and interests are in: type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, cardio oncology, clinical trials, nutrition, data quality and monitoring.

I am currently looking to take on supervision for PhD (as co-supervisor) and ILP/Honours (as primary or co-supervisor).
