Biography

Dr Fitri Widhiastuti is a postdoctoral research associate at the School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW, where she works in the Algae and Organic Matter (AOM) Lab. Before this, from July 2022 until the beginning of 2023, she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at RMIT University. Dr Fitri Widhiastuti is a postdoctoral research associate at the School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW, where she works in the Algae and Organic Matter (AOM) Lab. Before this, from July 2022 until the beginning of 2023, she worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at RMIT University. Dr Widhiastuti completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering at RMIT University in 2022. She also holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering from National Cheng Kung University, which she received in 2017, and a BE in Chemical Engineering from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, which she obtained in 2015. Her research interests primarily focus on water and wastewater treatment processes, including adsorption, oxidation, advanced oxidation processes, nitrification and denitrification, emerging contaminants removal, cyanotoxins degradation, and sensor application in water quality monitoring.

She is a member of the STEMM Champions Program 2024 cohort and passionately supports women, non-binary, and gender-diverse individuals in higher education and early careers. She empowers them to become influential leaders and changemakers, fostering an inclusive and transformative future in STEMM fields.
