Dr Madeleine Juhrmann is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within UNSW Medicine & Health and the Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU), the largest psychological research group in child and adolescent cancer in Australasia. She is a health services and implementation researcher specialising in palliative care, quality of life, communication and models of care for children, adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with serious illness.

At the BSU, Dr Juhrmann leads and contributes to nationally funded research evaluating innovative models of paediatric and AYA palliative care that integrate supportive care proactively alongside active cancer treatment. Her research spans intervention development, implementation science, health services research and communication across the cancer care trajectory, with the aim of improving outcomes for children, young people and their families while translating evidence into policy and clinical practice.

Dr Juhrmann's broader research program focuses on improving access to high-quality palliative care across the lifespan through health system innovation, implementation science and policy translation. Her work encompasses paediatric and adult palliative care, palliative paramedicine, community-based models of care, advance care planning and workforce development. She has secured competitive research funding as Chief Investigator and leads international collaborations through the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) Taskforce on Palliative Care and Emergency Medical Services, where she serves as the Australian representative. She is also Lead Editor of the forthcoming Wiley textbook Palliative Paramedicine: International Perspectives, Practice and Systems Integration.
