Padma Narasimhan is a Clinician and Senior Lecturer at the School of Population Health. He started his career as a medical doctor in India as an Infectious disease clinic caring for HIV/AIDS patients. He completed the Fogarty Ellison Clinical Research Fellowship at National Institutes of Health, USA in 2006 and moved to Australia in 2008. He started his journey at UNSW as a full-time internal student at the School in the Master of Public Health program and after completing the MPH, Padma was awarded the UNSW-University International Postgraduate Scholarship for a PhD at the School. He successfully completed his PhD on Infectious diseases epidemiology and joined SPH in 2013 as a teaching and research academic. His current research at the school focuses on using implementation science methodologies in digital health, with a particular focus on using digital health applications in integrated management of programs. Examples include projects integrating communicable and non-communicable diseases in low and middle-income countries and emergency medicine and primary care programs in Australia. He is also engaged with the Kirby Institute EPIWATCH disease surveillance program in its global expansion and works as a clinician at the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. He is the Deputy Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Digital Health at UNSW and is listed as a Roster of Experts in the newly formed WHO Department of Digital Health. His research work has been published widely in leading local and international journals and he currently serves as the section editor for the prestigious PLoS Digital Health journal.
