Peter Dennis is Emeritus Professor of History and Visiting Fellow in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences. He is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and Adelaide Teachers College (1966), and of Duke University (MA 1968; PhD 1970). Peter Dennis is Emeritus Professor of History and Visiting Fellow in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences. He is a graduate of the University of Adelaide and Adelaide Teachers College (1966), and of Duke University (MA 1968; PhD 1970). He taught at The Royal Military College of Canada, The University of Western Ontario the Faculty of Military Studies at RMC Duntroon, before joining UNSW Canberra at the new ADFA campus in 1986. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society in 1972, and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2003. He was head of the Department of History at UNSW Canberra from 1989 to 1998, and was joint founding editor of the journal War & Society. He has been closely involved with the creation and maintenance of the 'Australian Anzacs in the Great War' and 'New Zealand's Great War databases.
