Dr Sarah Ellis is a postdoctoral research fellow and practising clinical psychologist in the Behavioural Sciences Unit, School of Clinical Medicine where she co-leads the Patient Reported Outcomes and Quality of Life Team. Sarah completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) with Honours and a Bachelor of Health at Macquarie University, followed by a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and a PhD at the University of Sydney. Her doctoral research involved the development and evaluation of an evidence-based, tailored sleep intervention for parents of children with cancer (CAT NAP: Carers at Night in Pediatrics).
Sarah’s current research program includes a range of studies focused on investigating the psychosocial mechanisms that influence patient outcomes; partnering with children, young people and families to improve health research; and designing and implementing online supportive-care resources and interventions to improve symptom-management and quality of life. Sarah’s research aims to translate knowledge into real world improvements in care through equitable and integrated pathways for families. She has specific interests in supporting the psychological wellbeing of young people and families impacted by cancer and other chronic illnesses, as well as individuals experiencing fertility challenges or perinatal mental health concerns.
