Hoon Han is a Professor of City Planning and the Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute-UNSW Centre. Hoon Han is a Professor of City Planning and the Director of the Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute-UNSW Centre. Prior to joining UNSW in January 2011, he held teaching and researching positions at Griffith University (2009-2011) and the University of Queensland (2004-2009), where he completed his PhD program (2004). His research primarily focuses on Urban AI, smart cities, and real estate using machine learning, spatial modelling and multivariate data analysis. More specifically, his research contributes to the theories of smart cities which can be systematically tested, explored, and implemented with the application of urban AI tools.
Prof Han has actively disseminated his research through various outlets. His body of work encompasses more than 100 publications, including scholarly books, book chapters and journal papers.

My Teaching

Dr Han teaches the core subjects in the planning and urban development program: City and Regional Economics (PLAN1004), Economics of Planning and Development (PLAN2111) and Quantitative Research Methods (PLAN1052) at an undergraduate level, and City Economics, Urban Development & Finance (PLAN7146) to postgraduates.
