Alistair is a Scientia Lecturer and ARC DECRA Fellow. He rejoined City Futures Research Centre and the School of Built Environment in 2026, having worked there as a Research Associate from 2019-2021. His research spans housing policy, urban planning and urban governance, with specific interests including social and affordable housing, estate regeneration, and regulation of the private rental sector. His ARC DECRA project (2026-2029) examines how the 'housing crisis'  has reshaped policy and how the politics of housing is changing in contemporary Australian society. He publishes regular posts on his Substack, A more social housing. Alistair is Australasia portfolio editor for the journal Housing Studies and an Institute of Australian Geographers councilor.
