Dr Paul Kelaita is a postdoctoral fellow in the Drug Policy Modelling Program at the Social Policy Research Centre. Dr Paul Kelaita is a postdoctoral fellow in the Drug Policy Modelling Program at the Social Policy Research Centre. He works on values in drug policy, focussing on policymaker and alcohol and other drug sector approaches to debate and reform. Paul is currently researching: how values inform drug policy debate; how the agenda gets set for the upcoming NSW Drug Summit; the conditions of support for drug policy reform; and models of drug regulation.
Paul's previous research includes work on public health policy (COVID lockdowns), political participation (the marriage equality postal survey), and queer cultural geography (queer community and art practice in Western Sydney). He has extensive qualitative research experience across humanities and social science disciplines. This includes qualitative research design and implementation, research translation, and coordinating and providing research support on diverse, interdisciplinary projects utilising mixed methods. His PhD is in Gender and Cultural Studies from the University of Sydney and focussed on queer histories and art practices in Western Sydney.
