Twan Huybers is Associate Professor in the School of Business at UNSW, Canberra.
He was educated in The Netherlands where he worked in the private sector for four years and obtained his Masters degree (cum laude) in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Maastricht. He has a PhD in Economics from UNSW; in his doctoral research, he investigated the effects of environmental management on the competitiveness of nature-based tourism destinations.
Twan's research interests include the economics of tourism and the application of choice modelling methods in various decision making contexts. His choice experiment research includes tourist decision making (e.g. destination choices and museum visitation choices), household choices (discretionary expenditure decisions), sports related applications (performance enhancing drug choices and sponsorship decisions) and higher education evaluation studies (student evaluation of university teaching and programme evaluation).
