Dr Belamy Cheung graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Science Guangzhou, China in 1983, and obtained her Master and PhD degrees at the Faculty of Medicine, UNSW Sydney in 1994 and 2004, respectively. Now she is the Deputy Leader and Manager of the Molecular Carcinogenesis (MC) Program at Children's Cancer Institute Australia. Dr Cheung has published 46 original or review articles on the top-ranked journals including Nature Reviews Cancer, Science Translational Medicine, Oncogene and Journal of the National Cancer Institute. She attracted 1420 citations, h-index 18 (Scopus). She has also demonstrated a strong commitment to research supervision and mentoring. Since 2004, she has supervised/mentored more than 40 research assistants, undergraduates, PhD students and Postdocs. Dr Cheung directs and drives the research in all 3 themes in the MC Program: developing inhibitors for MYC oncoproteins, identification of co-factors for MYCN oncoprotein, and, establishing novel combination therapies of epigenetic drugs for cancer treatment. Dr Cheung is the Vice-President of the Australian Association for Chinese Biomedical Scientists. She also is the Visiting Professor at the School of Life Sciences and Technology, Tongji University Shanghai and the Adjunct Professor, Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhengzhou University, China.
