I am an Engineering Early Career Academic Fellow with the School of Electrical Engineering and Telecommunications and a Research Fellow with the Real-Time Simulations Laboratory (RTS@UNSW).
I received my B.Sc. degree and the Professional Title in Electrical Engineering from the University of Chile, Chile, in 2013 and 2014, respectively, and my Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UNSW Sydney, Australia, in 2022. From 2014 to 2016 I worked as a Power System Analyst in Transelec, Chile. While pursuing my Ph.D. I collaborated and worked together with OPAL-RT Technologies (2020-2022).
One of my primary career interests is generating, sharing, and transferring knowledge in the field of electrical engineering. I have both industry and research experience, which I believe is essential when teaching a new generation of engineers and carrying out research that bridges the gap between both worlds.
My research interests include:
- Power system digital twins
- Real-time digital modelling and simulation
- Synthetic grids
- Grid integration of renewable energy resources and energy storage systems
My Qualifications
- Ph.D., Electrical Engineering, UNSW Sydney, Australia, 2018-2022.
- Electrical Engineering Diploma, University of Chile, Chile, 2008-2013.
- B.Eng.Sc. Electrical Engineering, University of Chile, Chile, 2008-2013.
My Awards
- UNSW's Engineering Early Career Academic Fellowship, 2023.
- Best Paper Award, Energies, 2022. Paper: "Challenges and Mitigation Measures in Power Systems with High Share of Renewables—The Australian Experience"
- Best Paper Award, IEEE International Smart Grid Technologies (IEEE ISGT Asia), 2021. Paper: "Synthetic Grid Modeling for Real-Time Simulations"
- Graduate Collaborative Research Award, Universitas 21, 2019.
- Student Travel Award, IEEE Power Electronics Society, 2019.
- Becas Chile Scholarship, ANID (formerly CONICYT), 2017.
- High Honour, University of Chile, 2013-2014.
