George obtained his Ph.D in the multidisciplinary area of Text Mining and Epidemiology from the University of Manchester (2014). He has since then been working as a medical informatician for the design and implementation of text mining systems. He has designed and implemented multiple systems for the extraction of targeted information from various unstructured biomedical data (e.g., clinical narratives, epidemiological study abstracts, medication prescriptions and domestic violence police recorded events among others). One of the most recent examples of text mining involved the identification of biases in animal-based research. He  participates frequently with a team of collaborators in international NLP competitions. Areas of interest include mental health, epidemiology (i.e., infectious diseases) and text mining.
