Dr Holly Evans is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Behavioural Sciences Unit (BSU) in the School of Clinical Medicine. She is the leader of the Family Systems and Relationships Team, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in January 2022. Her PhD focused on end-of-life communication and the role that psychological mechanisms such as attachment security in relationships might play in these conversations. She developed new discovery-level knowledge of how attachment influences end-of-life communication among healthy AYAs, which had not been previously examined in experimental psychology or psycho-oncology.

My Research Activities
Holly currently works on a range of projects examining psychosocial factors in, and the acceptability of, medical procedures such as prenatal genetic testing and prognostic testing in ovarian cancer. Other projects include the role of health professionals in communication in paediatric and adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer, particularly in advanced and hard-to-treat cancers. She is also involved in the development of Voicing My CHOiCES, an Australian version of an end-of-life communication resource for AYAs, and has coordinated research around this since 2017.
