Biomechanics

Level 1: I develop models of human movement to help design medical devices and monitor patient activity.

Level 2: I use models of human movement to determine forces and moments acting on, and within, the body; these are used to design new and innovative medical devices.

Level 3: I integrate a number of technologies to develop models of human movement that do not rely on rigid-body mechanics to inform medical device design and patient rehabilitation.

Interest in engineering

Why did you get into engineering?

I enjoyed maths at high school and I’ve had a lifelong an interest in medicine; biomedical engineering was a natural fit.

What are your research goals?

To conduct research that contributes positively to the community.

Advice for prospective biomedical engineers

Appreciate the importance of the fundamental engineering disciplines that complement biomedical engineering.
