The aim of this research is to develop a smartphone-based platform to evaluate self-administered assessments of mobility in the elderly in particular, the assessment of falls risk via the implementation of a “guided” falls risk assessment known as the directed routine.
This project aims to develop signal processing algorithms to extract features from inertial signals which correlate with current clinical measures of fall risk. The signals are acquired during normal unsupervised movement using a small waist-worn monitor.
