Dr. Umair is a recent PhD graduate in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research work during his PhD program involved various aspects of nano-textures based solar cell fabrication, characterization, and stability. Dr. Umair is a recent PhD graduate in Photovoltaic Engineering from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). His research work during his PhD program involved various aspects of nano-textures based solar cell fabrication, characterization, and stability. He worked on the development of reactive ion etching (RIE), Laser doped selective emitter (LDSE) solar cells, the investigation of LeTID in nano-textures, hydrogenation of radiation damage solar cells, and the development of characterization techniques for unique textures. Dr. Umair's research was part of a multi-million dollar project that was funded by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and involved collaboration with the industry. His work on nano-textures based solar cell fabrication was crucial to the project, and he made significant contributions to the project's success.
Following the completion of his PhD, Dr. Umair joined Prod. Bram Hoex's group as a post-doctoral research fellow in February 2022. His primary focus is on solar cell/module stability, and he is working to understand the potential induced degradation (PID) to create faster-testing conditions.
