A/Prof. Sandra Lowe is a Conjoint Associate Professor with the School of Women's & Children's Health, and a Visiting Obstetric Physician at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick.
A/Prof Lowe specialises in medical disorders of pregnancy including complications such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and diabetes. She has more than 30 years experience as a specialist helping women with problems ranging from excessive nausea and vomiting in pregnancy (hyperemesis) to major complications such as liver and neurological disease.
She has published widely over a broad range of topic areas in obstetirc medicine and is the lead author for the Australian and New Zealand Guideline on the Managament of Hypertensive Disorders in Pregnancy. A/Prof Lowe has lectured extensively within Australia and internationally and has a special interest in the education of doctors, nurses, midwives and students in this important area of medicine.
Dr Lowe works closely with obstetricians, midwives and general practitioners at both Royal Hospital for Women and the Prince of Wales Private Hospital. She is the immediate Past President of the International Society of Obstetric Medicine and is also founding co-editor of an international medical journal “Obstetric Medicine: The Medicine of Pregnancy.”. A/Prof Lowe was honoured to be made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) as well as being awarded an Honorary Fellowship of RANZCOG for her services to Obstetric Medicine in Australia and Internationally.
