Biography

Dr Sophia Lin originally trained as a dietitian and nutritionist, and has completed additional public health qualifications and training. Dr Sophia Lin originally trained as a dietitian and nutritionist, and has completed additional public health qualifications and training. Her primary research focus is on pragmatic strategies to preventing and controlling chronic diseases and related risk factors in international settings, including type 2 diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, and cervical cancer. Additional research projects include investigations into social determinants of health (literacy) on changes to Aboriginal health and social well-being, and human resources for health. Regions of research work include the Pacific Islands, Asia, and Africa.

Dr Lin is currently a Lecturer in the School of Public Health and Community medicine. She is also the Academic Adviser for the Bachelor of International Public Health program and convenes courses in epidemiology, chronic disease prevention and control, and public health nutrition and physical activity.
