Mr James Bedford

Biography

James Bedford is a writer and Academic Learning Facilitator. He completed his PhD in creative writing at the University of New South Wales in 2019. He is the recipient of an APA and Research Excellence Award and was a visiting doctoral student at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing. He is currently working on his first novel about his ancestor, the notorious Rev. William Bedford of Van Diemen’s Land (1781-1852). His work appears in Southerly...view more

James Bedford is a writer and Academic Learning Facilitator. He completed his PhD in creative writing at the University of New South Wales in 2019. He is the recipient of an APA and Research Excellence Award and was a visiting doctoral student at the Oxford Centre for Life-Writing. He is currently working on his first novel about his ancestor, the notorious Rev. William Bedford of Van Diemen’s Land (1781-1852). His work appears in Southerly and Colloquy. 

He graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2011 with first class honours and received a University Medal for Creative Writing. His research interests include Fiction, Life-Writing, Memoir, Bio-fiction, Creative Non-Fiction, Post Colonial Literature, and the Historical Novel.
