Angela Kintominas (she/her) is a Scientia PhD Scholar and Teaching Fellow at the Faculty of Law & Justice at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Angela Kintominas (she/her) is a Scientia PhD Scholar and Teaching Fellow at the Faculty of Law & Justice at the University of New South Wales, Sydney. Angela has an interest in feminist and critical theoretical approaches to gender, work, reproductive labour and social reproduction and the law. Her research interests primarily lie in the intersections of gender, migration, work and care. She has worked on projects across the fields of temporary labour migration, the labour and human rights of migrants and migrant workers, family migration and transnational family life, migrant care and domestic work and au pairing, surrogacy, and care and domestic work in the gig economy.
Angela has published in leading peer-reviewed feminist journals including Gender Work & Organization, Social Politics: International Studies in Gender, State & Society, and the Anti-Trafficking Review, as well as in media outlets The Conversation and Women’s Agenda. She has been a research associate in several multi-institutional and interdisciplinary projects including with the Migrant Justice Institute, the Social Policy Research Centre, and CEPAR. Through this work, she has developed expertise across policy and law reform work, and socio-legal and qualitative research methods.
Angela currently serves as a Managing Editor and a member of the Editorial Board of the Australian Feminist Law Journal. She previously served as an Editor of the Human Rights Defender and as a student Editorial Board Member of the UNSW Law Journal. She is a member of the Work and Family Policy Roundtable (W+FPR), and an Associate of the Australian Human Rights Institute at UNSW Sydney.
Angela obtained a Master of Laws from Columbia Law School, where she was a Lionel Murphy Scholar and was awarded the Walter Gellhorn Prize for highest academic achievement. She took part in the Columbia Gender and Sexuality Law Clinic and was a graduate intern in the gender and migration team at UN Women Headquarters, New York. Angela obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons I) and Bachelor of Laws (Hons I, Valedictorian) from UNSW Sydney. Prior to joining academia, Angela worked as solicitor and is admitted in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.
