Dr. Tony (Xian) Zhang is a research fellow and statistical consultant at Stats Central, Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre, UNSW Sydney. He also serves as the primary statistical consultant at St Vincent's Hospital Sydney.

Dr. Zhang completed an MSc in Medical Statistics at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a PhD in Biostatistics and Epidemiology at the Otago Medical School, New Zealand. His doctoral research investigated the longitudinal development of lung function and early life origins of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) using the unique data from the internationally renowned Dunedin Study. 

Dr. Zhang has extensive experience in statistical consulting, study design, statistical methodology, advanced epidemiology, and real-world evidence. He also has a strong research interest in respiratory medicine and is actively involved in research relating to asthma, COPD, lung function development, tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, and lung transplantation. He is a member of the UNSW Chronic Respiratory Disease Research Group, Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand (TSANZ), Asian Pacific Society of Respirology (APSR), and European Respiratory Society (ERS).

Dr. Zhang serves on the Editorial Board of CHEST and as a Statistical Editor for Respirology. He also regularly reviews for leading journals including the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, European Respiratory Journal, and BMJ Global Health.

Dr. Zhang serves on the Council of Statistical Society of Australia. He is also a Member of the Royal Society of New Zealand (MRSNZ).
