Mr Saleh Alquethamy

Saleh Alquethamy is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the school of Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences at UNSW in A/Prof. Jai Tree laboratory, where he investigates protein and RNA aptamers that can enhance peptide-nucleic acid function in inhibiting bacterial infections. Prior to joining UNSW, Saleh did his PhD in Biomedical Science under the supervision of Prof. Christopher McDevitt and Prof. Tim Stinear at the University of Melbourne. Here, he investigated how Acinetobacter baumannii recognise micronutrients in chemically complex environments and achieve selective transport of these nutrients across biological membranes. Saleh continued his research as a postdoctoral researcher in Dr Bart Eijkelkamp laboratory where he investigated the role of lipids in Acinetobacter baumannii physiology. Saleh is passionate about advancing our understanding of microbial resistance mechanisms and developing novel therapeutic strategies to combat bacterial infections.
