Dr Wilson Luu graduated from UNSW with a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) and received an award in research in 2015. Since graduating, Wilson has worked in both corporate and independent optometry practices in rural NSW and metropolitan Sydney and has travelled overseas to provide eye care to the Nepalese Everest community. He is qualified to prescribe ophthalmic medicines to manage eye diseases. His interest areas are low vision, myopia control, contact lenses, ocular pathology and use of artificial intelligence and technology in eye care.

Wilson completed his PhD at the Centre for Eye Health and School of Optometry and Vision Science (UNSW) in 2022, researching the use of virtual reality in assessing vision. He is a Lecturer, Stage 4 and 5 Clinical Course Convenor and Clinical Supervisor at the UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science. He is involved in research at UNSW and is a Review Editor in Frontiers in Neuro-Ophthalmology.

Wilson is also involved in industry, both as an independent practice owner and being the current chairperson of the Not-For-Profit association, Young Optometrists (YO), which aims to support optometry and vision science students and early career optometrists within 10 years of graduation. He is a member of the industry working group collaborators (Visiting Committee) with the School of Optometry and Vision Science at UNSW. Other professional affiliations include: Member of Optometry Australia (OA); Member of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO); Member of Cornea and Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA).
