Janis is an Associate Professor (Education Focused) in the School of Management and Governance at UNSW Business School. An award-winning educator and experienced academic leader, her work focuses on creating learning environments that enable students and educators to develop, flourish and navigate complexity. She brings extensive experience in educational leadership, curriculum development and management education, having held senior educational leadership roles across UNSW Business School, including Education Director at the Centre for Social Impact, Deputy Head of School (Education), and Program Director of the AGSM MBA (Executive).

Her scholarly interests centre on the changing nature of academic work, academic identity and the development of education-focused academic careers. She is particularly interested in how educational leadership, scholarly practice and collegial communities can support meaningful and sustainable academic work. Her scholarship also explores student engagement, belonging, assessment and the implications of emerging technologies for higher education.

A Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and recipient of the UNSW Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence and the Dean's Leadership Award, Janis is committed to advancing educational practice and supporting the development of others through mentoring, collaboration and scholarly engagement.
