Associate Professor Ruth McCausland is UNSW Director of Yuwaya Ngarra-li, a community-led partnership with the Dharriwaa Elders Group in Walgett that grew from research collaboration on the incarceration of Aboriginal people with mental and cognitive disability. A non-Indigenous researcher and evaluator, Ruth has worked over the past 25 years in the fields of criminology, evaluation, human rights and community development. Her research focuses on systemic and community-led responses to criminalisation and incarceration. Ruth is on the NSW Committee of the Australian Evaluation Society and the Board of the Community Restorative Centre, and is an Associate of the Australian Human Rights Institute.
