Dr. Yenni Tim is an Associate Professor at the School of Information Systems and Technology Management, UNSW Business School. As a researcher, she addresses complex challenges at the intersection of digital capacity, resilience, and societal progress. Yenni conducts practice-oriented research, collaborating with problem owners and end users to design and implement digital technologies that advance resilience and sustainability. Her completed projects include designing digital solutions for pandemic response, improving health services, addressing digital disadvantages, and enhancing environmental sustainability.

To facilitate the development of impact-driven research and support effective research implementation for real-world outcomes, Yenni co-founded and directs the UNSW Implementation Science Lab. Through the lab, she leads a multidisciplinary research team to bridge “the last research mile”, developing blueprints to support the implementation of the latest digital technologies, such as generative AI and renewable energy, for organisational change and societal advancement.

Yenni contributes to the scholarship and development of practice research and digital resilience research through her appointments as an Associate Editor for the Information Systems Journal (since 2020) and the European Journal of Information Systems (since 2023), and as a Managing Editor for the Journal of the Association for Information Systems (since 2019).

Her commitment to engaging with practice extends beyond her research. Yenni founded and leads the UNSW Sandbox Program (unsw.to/sandbox), an initiative that has empowered over 10,000 university students to partner with industry practitioners and academics to co-design solutions for contemporary challenges. Her latest endeavour, leading the Global Sandbox Alliance, extends the impact of Sandbox to the global stage, facilitating strategic partnerships between academic institutions, businesses, and community organisations worldwide.

As a Nexus Fellow at UNSW, Yenni works with academic and professional communities across the university to bring innovative ideas to life. Drawing from her experience in engagement and innovation, she leads initiatives that focus on uplifting the capabilities of these communities in developing, implementing, and sustaining solutions that address significant challenges within the university ecosystem.
