In 2013 she was a visiting scholar at Biomaterials & Biomimetics Department in the College of Dentistry at New York University, which was supported by Science without Borders scholarship, funded by the Brazilian federal government. As a result of her successful job performance, she was granted with four months extension at NYU with a position of Assistant Research Scientist in the department of Biomaterials and Biomimetic. Her research focuses on the mechanical behavior of dental ceramics. Her research topics include understanding the mechanisms of fracture of brittle materials and finite element analysis of dental structures.
