Edwin Peters has a strong background in Signal Processing, RF, embedded systems, control systems and GPU based signal processing formed at Danish and Australian universities.
Dr. Peters' is currently working as a lecturer within the Electrical Engineering undergraduate and Space master discipliones at UNSW Canberra.
Dr. Peters' research interests lie in the fields of signal processing, satellite communications, radar, embedded systems, including FPGAs and edge computing, and general purpose GPU computing, which he applies to fields such as satellite communications, edge processing for real time signal processing on-board spacecraft, spacecraft tracking and monitoring for space domain awareness, tracking and characterisation of near-Earth asteroids using radar.
Further, Dr. Peters supervises postgraduate and undergraduate students in fields of applied signal processing, machine learning and radar applications.

Areas of supervision
I am interested in supervising in any signal processing related field, preferably related to the domain of space. My research focus is in the field of radio frequency sensing for space domain awareness applications. This includes signal processing and estimation for signals collected using passive radio frequency sensing, bi static radar and passive radar applications.
My interest extends to the development of algorithms and their implementation on digital signal processing platforms, including GPUs and FPGAs.
Currently supervising
(PhD) Md Sohrab Mahmud -- Demonstration of a GNSS Multi-Static Radar for Space Situational Awareness
(PhD) Tim Bateman -- Cis-lunar space domain awareness using passive RF
(PhD) Saleen Bhattarai -- Direct Monte Carlo Simulation using FPGAs
(PhD) Dave Furtado -- Autonomous Data-Driven Modelling for Advanced Satellite Constellation Management
My Engagement
Activity lead for Young Women in Engineering (YoWIE) space activity
Activity lead for Young Space Explorers
