Biography

At UNSW, Eindra is the Project Manager of a trial to evaluate the effectiveness of use of a mobile self-management app, designed for people with gout. She is also a Principal Hospital Scientist at the Pain Management Research Institute, Northern Sydney Local Health District. Her previous research areas include assessment of quality of care from patient perspectives, patient activation (self-management ability), patient-reported outcomes, ex-prisoners’ health, behaviour change communication regarding sanitation and hygiene behaviours, and health information systems. Her international health experiences include coordinating behaviour change communication programs (mainly HIV prevention and reproductive health), and managing post-disaster health and livelihood programs. She also participated in and conducted monitoring and evaluation of those programs in Thailand, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India.

Research projects available:
- Identify opportunities for self-management support in gout by examining patient perspectives on causes of gout (knowledge gaps), use of technology in managing health, ULT-taking patterns, healthcare utilisation (practices), and their influence on serum urate and patient-reported outcomes.
- Investigate the role of testing serum urate in achieving the target urate concentration and better patient-reported outcomes.
- Examine the association of serum urate concentrations with patient-reported outcomes, including gout attacks, health-related quality of life and work productivity and activity impairment.
- Examine the feasibility of pharmacist-led chronic care delivery in people with gout.
