I am an early career researcher and virologist based at the Virology Research Laboratory (Prince of Wales Hospital Randwick), University of New South Wales. My areas of expertise include 1) viral detection and diagnostics, 2) genomic surveillance of viral epidemics, and 3) characterization of antibody-mediated immunity to viral infections. I have experience in whole genome sequencing of respiratory viruses (RSV, Influenzavirus and SARS-CoV-2), serological techniques for viral detection and characterisation, and culturing of clinical virus isolates (including highly infectious variants of SARS-CoV-2 under PC3 conditions). I am also an Associate Investigator within the Virology theme of the Environmental Determinants of Islet Autoimmunity (ENDIA) Study, following 1,500 mother-infant pairs with a first-degree relative with type 1 diabetes across Australia (https://endia.org.au).

My Grants

NHMRC Investigator (EL1), 2024-2028. CIA, $662,040.

Characterising viruses that promote the development of type 1 diabetes. NHMRC European Partnership, 2024-2027. CID (CIA-Kim), $499,999

Epidemiology of Respiratory Syncytial Virus and other respiratory viruses. GSK Supported Study, 2023-2025. CIA, $95,654
