I am Hongmin (Jess) Yan, Lecturer in Human Resources Management, in the School of Business at UNSW, Canberra. I obtained my PhD in Management from The University of Queensland. My research is dedicated to helping organisations build responsible and sustainable workplaces. My current research helps businesses to harness AI capabilities while developing adaptive and innovative workforce practices. My research work has been published in leading journals such as Human Resource Management and Journal of Vocational Behavior.

As an educator, I adopt a research-led teaching philosophy, integrating the latest findings into my teaching to ensure real-world relevance and impact. I have received positive recognition for teaching courses like human resources development. I am also an active member of the scholarly community, serving on the editorial board of the Australian Journal of Management and delivering invited talks internationally.

My work reflects my dedication to advancing knowledge, improving workplace practices, and mentoring future leaders to create more ethical and sustainable work environments.

My Research Activities

My research explores workplace wellbeing and adaptation in the digital age. My key areas of interest include:

  • Ethical and Responsible Technology Use: Examining the effects of technology (e.g., AI and robotics) on organisational practices and employee wellbeing.
  • Wellbeing at Work: Investigating how employees react and cope with stressful events at work such as customer mistreatment.
  • Ethical Decision-Making: Understanding the processes and factors that influence ethical choices in organisational contexts.

I am interested in supervising students on research projects, particularly in areas related to technology and workplace wellbeing.
