My broad research interests include biomaterial-tissue interactions, evaluation of implant performance both in vivo and in vitro, development and refinement of surgical interventions, as well as expanding the understanding of specific disease progressions and treatments. My experience includes, biomechanical testing, imaging analysis techniques, histological evaluation, metallurgy. Specific research includes; biomechanical testing of nucleus pulposus replacements, bone graft substitutes/implant material variation/growth factors and their influence in spinal fusion, treatment of critically sized defects, platelet rich plasma, rotator cuff repair, fracture fixation, PMMA (bone cement), evaluation of vascular devices, implant/bone micromotion under loading, as well as other projects. My overarching goal is to provide guidance and facilitate projects that will further understanding and ultimately improve patient outcome.
