Dr Michelle Moscova leads the Healthcare Innovations research team that uses big data to improve health service delivery and health education. Currently, her team works to improve diagnosis and care for patients with trauma and sepsis as part of an international sepsis partnership group. She also has ongoing close collaborations with major Australian hospitals and government organisations that are focused on clinical decision support tools, digital health, evaluation of postgraduate medical training, and advanced medical imaging. Over her academic career Dr Moscova has attracted/managed over $900,000 of research funding and supervised multiple HDR and Honours students.

Dr Moscova has a strong track record of successfully implementing and managing educational innovations and leading faculty-wide and cross-institutional initiatives in medical and health education.  With 18-years teaching experience in the tertiary sector, she has developed new and successful pedagogies around virtual reality, online and blended learning, and 3D printing. Dr Moscova is certified internationally as a Trainer and Consultant in Team-based learning and is actively involved in the Team-based learning collaborative. As an academic with medical science and legal qualifications, she taught anatomy and the health law component of the Ethics & Law in Public Health within the UNSW Masters of Public health program.

Dr Moscova is an active science communicator, who has written five articles for The Conversation (readership: 371,000) and been interviewed multiple times on ABC radio networks across the country, ABC Kids Imagine This, WIN TV, SBS, Huffington Post and more.

Dr Moscova graduated with Medical Science (Hons) from Sydney University in 2002, and received her PhD in Molecular Medicine focusing on proteomic analysts of ovarian cancer in 2007. While in her final year of the PhD she commenced a law degree, which she completed with Honours in 2008. This was followed by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law and a year of practice in an intellectual property litigation group for an international law firm before returning to academia.
