Dr Nick Medland is a clinical epidemiologist researching the tracking the community impact of clinical interventions on infectious diseases transmission, including HIV and sexually transmitted infection. Dr Nick Medland is a clinical epidemiologist researching the tracking the community impact of clinical interventions on infectious diseases transmission, including HIV and sexually transmitted infection. He is a consultant physician in HIV and sexual health. He is the recipient of an Australian Government NHMRC early career research fellowship with the Surveillance, Evaluation and Research Program at the Kirby Institute for infection and immunity in society, Faculty of Medicine, UNSW. His research focusses on the population effects of biological HIV prevention (pre-exposure prophylaxis and treatment-as-prevention) and clinical, diagnostic and surveillance initiatives to reduce the impact of HIV and STIs on vulnerable populations. He is president-elect of the Australasian Society of HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine, the co-chair of the Australasian Sexual Health Alliance and an executive committee member of the Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has worked extensively in HIV programs in Vietnam.
