Dr Qihang Jiang

I hold a Ph.D. degree and work as a casual academic (Lecturer and Tutor for the postgraduate course LING5003 Language Technology since Term 3, 2021) at School of Humanities & Languages, ADA, UNSW. My doctoral project aims to investigate sensitive information such as swearwords and their translation in films from English to Chinese as well as the effects that different strategies of translation (produced by professional and non-professional subtitlers) may have on audiences reception through both eye-tracking and corpus-based approaches. My main research interests centre on corpus-based translation studies, audiovisual translation, fansubbing, eye-tracking study, reception study. Prior to my doctoral study, I graduated from University College London and received my master’s degree in MSc Specialised Translation (with Interpreting), 2016-2017. Before that, I studied and received my bachelor’s degree in BA Translation and Interpreting at Central China Normal University, 2012-2016, as well as being an exchange student at the Department of Linguistics and Translation, City University of Hong Kong, 2015.
