Sela Akdag is a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering of UNSW. He obtained his PhD from the School of Civil, Env & Mining Engineering at the University of Adelaide in 2019. Prior to joining UNSW, he worked as a postdoc focusing on rock/coal burst projects and in-situ stress measurement methods. His research interests focus on rock/coal burst analysis for deep mining activities, numerical modelling in underground mining, rock/fracture mechanics and ground support.
Research Interests
- Rock burst analysis in deep mines/excavations
- Coal burst mechanism investigation
- Damage mechanism and post-peak response of rocks
- Experimental and computational rock mechanics
- Engineering fracture mechanics
- Dynamic fracturing of materials
- In-situ stress measurement using AE and DRA
