Biography

Stephanie is Biostatistician and Epidemiologist for public health and health services research.  She is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Stephanie is Biostatistician and Epidemiologist for public health and health services research.  She is currently a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health (CBDRH) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Before joining the CBDRH, Stephanie has extensive experience and expertise in using large-scale linked data to conduct population-based epidemiological, health service, and outcome and health economic research.  She has actively collaborated and contributed in a number of collaborative research projects with multi-disciplinary teams (from United States, Denmark, Canada, and Australia) using a variety of data sources to conduct population-based epidemiological, health service, and outcome research in maternal and perinatal and reproductive health, pharmacoepidemiology, addiction, mental health, HIV, economic evaluation, injury, and cancer research areas.  She also has practical experience from the data warehouse and software development industry. Stephanie holds a Doctoral and a Master's degree from the University of Toronto, Canada, and a Bachelor's degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Waterloo, Canada.

My Research Activities

At the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit of the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, I am leading and collaborating a number of project using large-scale data linkage with multiple researchers and partners on examining effectiveness and safety of smoking cessation pharmacotherapy; accuracy and effectiveness of international growth charts on measuring small and large for gestational age newborns; impacts of maternal country of births on adverse perinatal outcomes; and effectiveness and safety of medically assisted reproduction treatment on mothers and babies.    


My Teaching

I am currently teaching Epidemiology and Biostatistics to health care professionals at the School of Women's and Children's Health.
