Tim is a Lecturer in the School of Global and Public Law at UNSW Law & Justice. His primary research interests lie in public international law, with a particular focus on the law of international organisations and the concept and use of purpose in international legal argument. He completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge as a Cambridge Trust and Cambridge Australia Scholar, where his doctoral research focused on the role of teleological reasoning in the law of international organisations. His teaching focuses on international law and legal research and writing, which he has taught in both the UK and Australia.

Tim served for several years as Associate Editor of the British Yearbook of International Law, and was previously Managing Editor of the Cambridge International Law Journal. He is admitted as a lawyer in Australia, and prior to academia was a solicitor at a global firm, with a focus on litigation and contentious regulatory investigations in the Asia-Pacific region.
